I know, I know...

I haven't blogged in forever!

Pretty much here's our life in a nutshell right now...

I'm currently working for the Anchorage School District as a full time employee. We currently are renting a two bedroom town home and will remain here until we're able to purchase a home of our own. Jonah is going to school full time at UAA; he mainly takes night/online classes. During the day he takes care of baby girl, Esme, while Ella's at school and I'm at work. I'm sure our little place is quite quiet during those days.

The latest news with me is that I got accepted into a Masters Program at UAA for Special Education. If I'm able to take the required courses (and of course do well in them with a B or above), I should be able to complete everything within 2-3 years. In the mean time, seeing that my current position is as a clerical worker, I am signed up to take the certification exams to become certified as a music teacher for the state of Alaska. I'm hoping that I will be able to pass and land a teaching job in music for the time being come fall 2011. I still have all the passion that I always have had in music, however, I feel that by becoming a Special Education teacher that I will be able to attribute my talents there as well with more job opportunities available. We'll see how this all pans out! :)

Our girls are growing much too fast...

Esme had her 9 month visit with the doctor recently; she is growing wonderfully and a very healthy child. Esme has mastered her crawling skills and is now getting around all over the house. She loves loves loves loves loves her sister and absolutely adores her. Esme is saying "Mama and Dada" most frequently and it's even more apparent that she knows who is who. She loves to have attention by us and adorably let's you know that she wants to be held by crawling towards you and saying our name with a little tug at the bottom of our pant legs. She's very interested in people, loves lights and sounds, and will make you sometimes work hard to get a smile in return. She's very sweet and affectionate, loves the fuzzy creatures (doggies) at my sister's house, and is a big Daddy's girl. ;) I can't believe she's going on 10 months now; the time goes by much too quickly.

Ella is also growing like a weed. We had a home video night recently (Jonah and I) and were amazed how quickly Ella has grown in the past year. She's her lovely vibrant self, loves to be near her sister (even though she sometimes doesn't respond that way), and has turned into such a little diva with a beautiful creativity which she expresses in much more ways than just her regular art masterpieces. Ella loves the snow and wishes to get out in it more often than we allow. She also loves her school which she will start attending only twice a week starting December. She is very excited about Christmas this year, and this is a big reason why...

We're coming to Michigan for the holidays! Yep, we'll be making it over to the other side of the country (lower 48 as they call it here), however, we'll not be getting away from the snow. ;) My parents will be driving up to meet us for the holidays which I am super excited about!

Well, I could get into a book if I went into all details of the past couple of months of zero blog entires. I hope that you enjoy the photos; please check back soon for I'll be getting more photos entered.

Lots of Love~ Liz

Na Na's Visit

Dawn flew in from Michigan on Saturday and we managed to squeeze a sweet little two day trip in together down to a little town called Seward (about 3 hours south of Anchorage). It's an adorable little town right on the water. We ate fresh halibut, walked around the down town area, visited the local aquarium, and sight seed what could in the short days we spent there. The drive down was absolutely breath taking. On our way down we made two other stops; the first one was to Potter's Marsh (located just outside of Anchorage) where we walked along a viewing area where all the birds enjoy hanging out; then made a little stop about 35 miles south of Anchorage to check out Crow Creek Mine. The days went by too quickly and I'll have to say that we are already missing Na Na and she hasn't even left the state yet. I'll have to say that we are loving our new adventure but missing our families and friends dearly.

I have more photos that we've been collecting since we arrived, however, we have yet to find the camera cord, so as soon as that is discovered, I'll have more to share from previous month and 1/2. These are the photos taken from Dawn's camera. Enjoy!

Alaska, pissing off Texas since 1959!

Wow! I never realized that Alaska is the largest state in the US! Anyways, we're here!! Lots of new things are happening and it's quite overwhelming to soak it all in at once, however, we are taking it day by day and enjoy our new adventure! I will try and get more details and updated photos of the girls soon (since arriving here). I do have some photos that were taken right before our move and a cute photo of Jonah and his friend Skylar on my computer taken today from a hike they took up Anchorage's Flattop Mountain Trail this morning. Currently our belongings are not to arrive for another week or two. I sent out my first job application today, so wish me luck! My goal is to apply to at least one a day up until I receive some interviews. Enjoy the photos and thank you for all your prayers.
PS- Our girls are adjusting wonderfully. :)

Jonah's friend, Skylar, reached the top of Flattop Mountain today.
Jonah at the top of Flattop. LOL.
Happy Mother's Day Mommy! (belated, but here's the two of us when I was around Ella's age). I love you Mom!!
